Urucum Flowers
In Brazil, the urucum is known not only for its use as a natural dye (from red-orange colour) and spices (known as colorau) which taste is not so strong, but also as a dye that the native Indians used to adorn the body and to protect from the strict sun (it’s said that it protects from the ultra violet rays) … I had never seen the tree and its flowers and appreciated its delicacy and beauty … and in a weekend ride near Sao Paulo, Brazil, in an area of preserved Atlantic Forest, I had the opportunity to admire them .. .
