Caramelized Banana Cake

This cake has obtained much success around these parts…maybe because it seems “exotic” as it is made with bananas…I have always appreciated fruit cakes…and my mom use to make them with bananas when we were children…so…
For the caramel:
. 1/2 cup of water
. 2 cups of sugar
Let the sugar dissolve into the water in low heat until it gets a beatiful “blondie” colour. You can use a pan or make it directly in the baking pan you should use to bake the cake. When it’s ready distribute 3 bananas sliced tranversally or along its lenght and dispose them over the caramel. Let’s start making the cake…
. 3 whole eggs
. 75 g of sugar
. 170 g of wheat flour
. 30 g of maize starch
. 120 ml of plein yoghurt (no sugar added)
. 40 ml of vegetable oil (corn, or other you prefer)
. 1 tbsp of baking powder
. optional: 2 tbsp of almonds and 1/2 lemon grated zest
Mix the eggs and sugar until fluffy. Add the oil, the yoghurt and mix well. Add the flour, maize starch and baking powder all sifted. Add the almonds and lemon zest if you are using them. Pour this mixture over the caramellized bananas in the baking pan. Bake in pre heated oven (180°C) for 35-40 minutes until beautifully golden and cooked (test with the toothpick…:)))

    H foi à feira hoje e, além da dúzia semanal para o nosso consumo, trouxe um saco de bananas que os feirantes estavam descartando por R1,00, só porque estavam soltas da penca! Os passarinhos, e se dermos sorte os micos, vão se dar bem. E nós também porque as bananas estão tão boas que acabo de fazer o seu bolo com uma pequena parte delas. Depois te conto como ficou. Só posso adiantar que o cheiro de caramelo, neste frio de 5C aqui na Serra, está aquecendo o nosso coração – e o estômago também! Beijos!

    Certamente os passarinhos e os micos vao ficar super felizes…:)) pensa que com o frio eles tambèm devem ter mais dificuldade prà achar comida nè? O perfuminho deste bolo è delicioso mesmo…:)) fico aguardando noticias! Curtam o friozinho e o cafè com bolo ….:)) Beijos saudosos!
